Today's Philosophy Question: How much time can go by of not obtaining success before it turns into a failure?

A White House Homeland Security Advisor Fran Townsend told CNN that not capturing Osama bin Laden is a success that has not occurred yet and let's not call it a failure because the success part just has not happened yet. Duh.

HENRY: You know, going back to September 2001, the president said, dead or alive, we're going to get him. Still don't have him. I know you are saying there's successes on the war on terror, and there have been. That's a failure.
TOWNSEND: Well, I'm not sure -- it's a success that hasn't occurred yet. I don't know that I view that as a failure.

Pack up the Doritos; He won't be coming back

This is a tricky one; because it is Saddam Hussein and he was a murdering, sadistic and tyrant leader, but I really hate the idea of capital punishment in any capacity so I am torn on this. But whatever, one little ol' act of inhumanity is small potatoes to the bigger picture of Iraq. This post from blog Jesus' General captured the essence of this mess:

There is only one course left for you to take now that Saddam bin Laden is finally dead. You must give a speech in prime time detailing your long battle against this man. Your father should be made to kneel down beside you as you address the nation, so that once and for all, the world will know that you are a better man and a greater leader than him. Saddam's dead, naked body should be draped over the podium as you speak, and once you've finished, you should have your way with it to demonstrate that you've achieved the only thing you ever really wanted to accomplish in Iraq, the total domination of the man your father couldn't control, not with weapons sales or war. Then, you should bring our troops home.

For what it's worth, the Saddam court room antics were so hilarious and he was such a ridiculously insane character, that keeping him alive for just the pure entertainment would have won me over.
